The Virtual Museum of Cataloging and Acquisitions Artifacts est, comme son nom l'indique, un musée en ligne sur l'histoire du catalogage et plus largement des bibliothèques. Il propose notamment

des photos de livres de catalogages datant des 19e et 20e siècles,
des fiches et de pratiques autour de ces dernières (la pochette plastifiée pour protéger la fche, le "noeud du bibliothécaire" qui permet de relier les cartes entre elles...)
Des "ustensiles" de catalogage aujourd'hui étranges tels que des "supers sceaux", des stylos électriques, des machines à écrire spéciales fiches, des tampons de caoutchouc, des brosses à encres,
les premiers livres-audio avec des cassettes à bandes magnétiques, des disquettes cinq pouces un quart
du matériel de réparation, des boîtes en carton pour ranger et protéger des livres anciens...

Si vous avez d'autres objets dans vos archives, ils sont désireux de compléter leurs fonds et recherchent par exemple :

un catalogue écrit à la main
des systèmes de fabrication de cartes artisanaux
de vieilles photographies de biblitohèques
des guides locaux pour remplir des fiches etc...

The 17 Library Rules, as they appear in the Catalogue of the Guilford Free Public Library:

Unless otherwise ordered by the Trustees, the Library and Reading Room shall be open Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 1 to 5, and 6 to 9, P.M., legal holidays excepted.

The use of books in the Reading Room shall be free to all persons of proper behavior and condition. Conversation, avoidable noise and disorderly conduct are prohibited.

Any person over 8 years of age, residing in Guilford, shall be entitled to one card providing home use of books under the following conditions:

Each card shall entitle the holder to homes use of one volume at a time, under the rules of the Library.

Each person to whom one card may be issued, shall sign a receipt certifying the number and date of the card received, the recipient's name and agreement to comply with the rules of the Library.

The registered holder of a card is, in all cases, responsible for books taken with it.

Residents of adjoining towns may be allowed home use of books by paying $1.75 for one year, or $1.00 for six months, and complying with the rules of the Library.

Strangers in town can take books by depositing the price of said book, and paying four cents per day for use of book.

All books and periodicals must be handled with care. No writing, marking, turning down of leaves or other defacing will be allowed.

Books will not be issued to members of households in which contagious disease is known to exist.

Persons desirous of having certain books added to the Library, are requested to give titles to the Librarian to be suggested for the consideration of the Book Committee.

Periodicals must remain in the Library one week, after which they may be taken for three days, otherwise subject to the same rules as books.

No person will be allowed to take a book from the Library who appears by the records to be accountable for a book taken, or a fine imposed.

The Trustees may at any time prohibit the use of certain books outside the Library, withdraw them from circulation, or limit their retention to seven days if in great demand, and make such other regulations as will be for the best interests of book-takers.

No order shall be taken by the Librarian for books in advance of delivery, nor will books be reserved for any person or charged in advance of delivery.

No books can be taken out of town by students, unless a non-resident card is held.

Conversation with the Librarian other than Library subjects will not be allowed.

Library of Congress : Cataloging and Acquisitions

La bibliothèque du Congrès vient d'ouvrir un site consacré au catalogage et aux acquisitions qui se veut le portail consacré dans le domaine, du moins en ce qui concerne les ressources de la bibliothèque. Il remplace les trois sites qui existaient auparavant sur le sujet Cataloging , Cataloging Policy and Support Office, et Acquisitions. La page d'accueil est organisée en thématiques plutôt qu'en départements selon l'organigramme proposant ainsi une vision transversale du catalogage à la LC. Les thèmes sont donc :

About the Organization
